Black Dog Reviews is a blog by readers for readers, and we’re not paid to review books. We mention in our reviews where the books are from (library, books we bought or received as gifts, etc).
We don’t post negative reviews for books by living authors.
Kelly reads almost everything, including young adult novels, non-fiction that makes her think, urban fantasy, paranormal, literary fiction, genre, etc. She rarely read romances. Her favorite writers include Malcolm Gladwell, A.J. Jacobs, Jane Austen, Jasper Fforde, and Kazuo Ishiguro. Books she’s read in the past few years and enjoyed include the Hunger Game series, Let the Right One In, and Me Talk Pretty One Day.
Kim simply likes to read. In the morning, in the evening, on the bus, in bed… you name it. She’s mostly picks up literary and genre fiction, but also enjoys dabbling in young adult and children’s literature. Currently she’s enjoying a short story phase and thinks Dog Heaven by Stephanie Vaughn might be the best short story ever written. Ever. Kim doesn’t read much fantasy but is pretty easily hooked on anything with a dystopian flare. Some of her favorite writers are Maile Meloy, Neil Gaiman, Ian McEwan, Patricia Highsmith, John Steinbeck, Roald Dahl, and Lauren Groff.
Conner likes long walks on the beach and cuddling on the couch. He enjoy fine meals and vigorous belly rubs. While Conner doesn’t know how to read, he likes being read to. He also once ate the cover of Burton G. Malkiel’s A Random Walk Down Wall Street.
